Who is Dr. Svans?

Dr. Erik Svans is a family and comprehensive cosmetic dentist who has a passion for offering his patients the very best dentistry has to offer. His goal is simple: “Whether its periodic cleanings for a healthy patient or a full mouth reconstruction for a patient with advanced breakdown, I want our patients to feel that their best interests have always been taken care of and that they are completely satisfied.” Dr. Svans believes that without forming solid relationships with his patients, a trip to the dentist can be a forgettable experience for the patient and the dentist. He adds, “Why not make this a win-win experience?” With his no-pressure, patient education driven philosophy, Dr. Svans is always looking for new patients who match his philosophy and desire the very best dentistry can offer.

Dr. Svans’ Background

Dr. Svans grew up in Northern California and attended University of California, Davis, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a Biology Emphasis in 1994. He graduated from the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco in 1997 and was commended into Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He received additional awards in Fixed Prosthodontics (crown and bridge work), treatment planning, as well as an award for outstanding patient care. After graduation Dr. Svans practiced with his father in San Francisco until 1999 where he learned many “tricks of the trade.” In 2000, Dr. Svans moved to Scottsdale and opened his existing practice in the heart of Phoenix, just off Highway 51 on Bell Road.

Continually expanding his skills, Dr. Svans completes over 100 hours of continuing education yearly and is a member of the Arizona Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Scottsdale Study Club. Since 2003 Dr. Svans has also trained at the most comprehensive esthetic program in the world, the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Only 5% of General Dentists in the United States have completed these post-graduate courses, allowing Dr. Svans to skillfully solve many advanced functional and esthetic problems that exist beyond the standards of the general dentistry—skills including Smile Design, Natural Smile Makeover Procedures (including 1 hour Whitening), Full Mouth Rehabilitation, and Neuromuscular Jaw Repositioning.

What about patients who do not require advanced treatment? Dr. Svans’ Preventative Care Program promotes maintaining your teeth, gums, and bite so future dental work is kept to a minimum. His philosophy on preventative care: “Dentistry today has advanced incredibly compared to 20 years ago…if you can give me 6 minutes every day and follow our simple recommendations, it is possible, once your teeth, gums, and bite are stable, to go the rest of your life without a single cavity. The best dentistry is no dentistry!”
